After meeting Philo van Kemenade at a Stone Soup conference in Poland in 2018 we connected over our mutual passion for peer learning and life-long learning. This culminated in founding Gradual as a business with an open source philosophy. Currently, we are building digital tooling that makes it easier to facilitate skill-sharing within communities by mapping the pool of skills and learning desires, matching supply and demand and letting users meet for a peer to peer exchange.

We are actively co-developing this process through committed partnerships with communities and companies – for example through our recurring relationship with Mozilla for their annual Mozilla Festival. In 2022, we were awarded a grant for further development by Grant for the Web and are dedicated to building a more equitable and sustainable economy. With Web Monetization, we can help create a more fair and transparent way for creators to monetize their work – as well as just rewarding those who are stepping up to share their know-how within their community. 🌱

Members of our partnering communities so far have hosted an incredibly diverse range of sessions, from mycology to data science and from puppetry and handstands to setting up actionable initiatives to aid refugees from Ukraine.
